Recently I have been asked to photograph a number of newborns with their older siblings. This always presents a challenge especially if the siblings are only toddlers themselves.
Newborn safety is always paramount and having been trained in the art of newborn photography with leading newborn photography Melanie East I am fully aware of why this is such an important aspect.
When working with parents and siblings it is important to establish what it is the parents would like to achieve and what is safely feasible. I always ensure that a parent or assistant is on hand to be on safety duty, nothing is rushed and I aim to take my time to ensure, newborn, siblings and parents are all relaxed. A lot of parents feel anxious if the toddler isn’t doing as is asked but please rest assured I work with whatever happens on the day and work with your toddler so nothing is forced and it is an enjoyable experience. If in the worst scenario (which has never happened yet) the sibling refuses to be photograph with the newborn, I will happily reschedule the session for another day.
My aim is produce beautiful images, which can be treasured for a lifetime. I want my clients to remember the session as an enjoyable and relaxed experience, producing fond memories with their family.
